The History of the Cupid Ring

A cupid ring is an ancient piece of jewelry that represents the power of love. The ring is usually a symbol of purity and devotion and it can be worn as an everyday accessory, but it also can be used on special occasions such as Valentine’s Day.
The History of the Cupid Ring
The earliest depictions of the god of love, Cupid, date back to ancient Greece. The earliest known depiction of him is from a poem written by Apuleius, the Greek author who wrote “The Book of Odes” and “Odyssey”. He described Cupid as a young, seductive god equipped with a bow and arrows. He was also well-known for his naughty acts, which involved running at night through people’s houses and corrupting marriages by indiscriminate seduction.
In later years, the story of Cupid and his wife Psyche was included in Greek and Roman literature and art. It’s not hard to see why; the couple’s romance is the perfect tale of love triumphing over death.
This winged child-god of love has become a perennial symbol of romance and passion. He is often portrayed as a young boy or a chubby child in Classical Greek and Roman art.
It’s also a common theme in Renaissance art. Italian artist Raphael included in his works winged children, which he referred to as “putti.” These characters represented pure love and were always shown with wings.
The earliest version of this winged cherub is believed to be from the fourth century AD, according to Live Science. It was found by a metal detectorist and is now on display at an English museum.
A metal detectorist found the cupid ring, which is estimated to be about 300 years old, in England in 2013. The find was reported to the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS). In order to protect archaeological sites from vandalism and theft, PAS has created guidelines for amateurs searching the Earth with metal detectors.
It’s important to note that a cupid ring doesn’t necessarily have any inherent powers. Cupids receive the magic of love when they come into their own as cherubs, but over time a bond between them and their rings grows and they are given additional abilities.
Other magical beings can access the power of a Cupid ring, which is why Witches are shown to be able to use it. It is a powerful artifact that enables them to perform Remote Beaming and Telekinetic Orbing.
In some episodes of BBC’s “The Witches”, Piper and Christy both possessed the ring and were able to travel through time. They both manipulated the ring’s powers to affect their loved ones.
The ability to insert one person’s energy into another was used by Coop Halliwell to help Paige enter Henry’s body, and it was also used to project holograms of past loves. It’s a useful power to have if you want to be able to get in touch with your loved ones, even if you are miles apart.
